You can bring music into focus the same way the James Webb Space Telescope is bringing the universe into focus.

I've been following the launch and deployment of the JWST pretty closely. Last week they began the meticulous process of bringing each of the telescope's eighteen primary mirror segments into alignment. We're still near the beginning of this process.

What they've done is train each mirror segment onto the same star, so the mirror as a whole has eighteen separate views of the same star. Over the next several months the mirror segments will  gradually be adjusted so that they bring their separate images together for one amazingly detailed focused view.

I was teaching a six-year old this morning, and I was amazed at his ability to bring his music into focus.

Just three short months ago he couldn't consistently sing a Resting Tone accurately, or feel a Rhythm Pattern with consistent microbeats. Does that mean we got frustrated? Not too much, because this is the work we set out to do!

Fast forward to today and he is singing Resting Tones and moving to rhythms like a champ. This is the process. We know it takes time but every second we spend enjoying moving and singing with music results in a tighter focus on the music we want to make.

With appropriate instruction like that provided in Play and Sing in Harmony, you will be amazed at your ability to hear and make music more clearly than ever.
